What it does
THD ascorbate is completely photostable, and ideal for topical use because it is proven to penetrate skin, and to remain bioavailable in skin to optimally quench free radicals and oxidative stress. The “THD” part of THD ascorbate stands for “Tetra Hexyl Decyl”, which means that there are 4 fatty acid groups attached to the vitamin C, helping it cross the skin barrier and get where it needs to go to have the best results in skin.

What it does
Inhibits the activity of tyrosinase. By disrupting tyrosinase function, cysteamine reduces the production of melanin precursors, ultimately leading to a decrease in melanin synthesis. This mechanism results in the lightening of hyperpigmented areas.
Clinical studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of cysteamine in treating hyperpigmentation, including melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, to be 1.5x stronger than hydroquinone. In a randomized controlled trial, patients with melasma who applied a topical cysteamine cream twice daily for two months experienced a significant reduction in pigmentation compared to the control group.
